sing and sign classes in Leeds

sing and sign contact Melanie Macauley - 0113 267 6105 - Email

Sing and Sing in Leeds celebrates its 6th birthday this year.  As the original British baby signing classes, I am very proud when I meet parents in the street and they tell me how well their babies have done with baby signing, and how wide their range of vocabulary is.  We have lots of second, third and this term even a fourth siblings coming to classes.

Sing and Sign has just won "Best Toddler Development Activity" in the What's on 4 Little Ones National awards sponsored by Organix.  It is the 3rd year running that we have won an award.

We are now planning for our September 2010 term and the waiting list is growing daily.  Our classes fill up really quickly so please email me or give me a call if you would like a place and I will email you a booking form.

Our Sing and Sign schedule for September 2010 looks like this:-

MONDAY

St Oswalds Church, The Green,  Guiseley (Taught by Mel)

St Oswalds Church is located just off the mini-roundabout on Oxford Road, on the same street as Aireborough Leisure Centre. If you turn up the street on the left before the Church (Church Street) you can park on that street right outside the Church.  If you are walking, if you walk up that street you will see the gates and the entrance on the right hand side.

The times of the classes are:

Stage 1: 9.45 am - 10.30 am

Stage 2: 10.45 am - 11.30 am

Roundhay - Friends Meeting House, 136 Street Lane  (Taught by Helen)

Stage 1: 10.00 am - 10.45 am

This is a house on Street Lane but there is on street parking just over the road on a side street.

TUESDAY

The Courthouse, Courthouse Street, Otley  (Taught by Mel)

Stage 1: 10.00 a.m. - 10.45 am

Stage 2: 11.00 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.

There is a big car park right next door to the Courthouse.

St Andrews Church, St Andrew's Road, Morley (Taught by Jill)

This venue has it's own carpark and is very accessible by bus too.  The hall is behind the church off the main road.  There is a ramp for buggies, but be careful of the steps into the hall itself.

Stage 1:  10.00 am - 10.45 am

Stage 2 : 11.00 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.

St Margaret's Church Hall, Horsforth (Taught by Helen)

THURSDAY

Ilkley - Christchurch, The Grove, Ilkley (tbc)

Stage 1:  10. a.m. - 10.45 a.m.

FRIDAY

St Matthew's Church, Wood Lane, Chapel Allerton (Taught by Claire)
Only on street parking for this venue, I'm afraid, but it is a cul-de-sac so there isn't much traffic at the class times.  We use the meeting room to the rear of the church.

Stage 1:  10 to 11 a.m.

Stage 2 : 1 1 am - 11.45 a.m.

Headingley Parish Hall, St Michael's Road, Headingley (tbc)

This venue is conveniently located opposite the Skyrack pub so it is very easy to find.  It has it's own car park behind the building. Just drive down the side between the hall and the chinese takeaway. We use the Elam Room which is opposite the main door.

Stage 1:  2 p.m. - 2.45 pm

PLACES ARE RESERVED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.  If classes have a low number of bookings at the start of term, they may be cancelled.  We will let you know as soon as we can if this is the case.

Top Tips

Here are some tips on getting the most from your Sing and Sign classes:

1, Try to join in with all the songs - you'll learn the lyrics and the signs quicker

2, Save chats for after class, so that you, your baby and the others don't miss out on important information or get distracted

3, Don't give baby snacks or toys in class - this distracts your baby and others (milk and drinks are welcome)

4, Keep the weekly handouts in a safe place - they are great for reference and to share with other family members

All classes listed are bookable but places are limited and some classes fill up quicker than others.  Give me a ring if you have any questions.

Please note, classes may be changed or cancelled at short notice due to varying demand.  If we do have to change a class, we will contact you immediately to let you know.
