Sing and Sign baby signing classes in... Isle of Man

  My first introduction to baby signing was shortly after my first daughter was born in 2008, I had heard great things about baby signing but unfortunately there were no classes on the isle of man. Undeterred I brought a book of baby signs and my husband and I began to sign with our daughter. It was amazing! by 9 months she could ask for 'milk' and tell us she was 'finished'. Other signs soon followed and by the time she was a year old she was regularly using over a dozen signs to express her needs and wants to us.

  It was around this time I found a Sing and Sign DVD and I remember watching it and thinking 'Wow!' this is how it should be done, Aemilia was captivated watching the other babies signing on the DVD and loved all the catchy songs.

  Shortly after this I decided to train as a sign and sign teacher and Sing and Sign classes on the Isle of Man have been a huge success. We had another daughter Claudia in 2011 and signing together as a family was a lovely way for Aemilia to feel connected to her sister and to reduce frustration and increase communication between the girls.

  It is lovely to hear from parents who attend my classes about their experiences of signing together, most parents are amazed at just how much their babies have to say and find signing a hugely rewarding experience for both themselves and their little ones.

  Next term of Sing and Sign

  'Babes' classes are suitable for babies 0-6 months

  Stage 1 classes are for babies age 6-16months

  Stage 2 classes are for little ones age 14-30 months

  All classes are currently run at the Family library in douglas
